Welcome to Our...

4th Annual Thanksgiving Community Feast

On Thanksgiving Day, we serve more than a thousand meals to hungry New Yorkers all across Manhattan! Our community gathers in Tompkins Square Park for a full spread of vegan food, coat and clothing drive, cruelty-free personal care packages, a kids area, and information regarding veganism along with local community and social service resources! Our food is then packaged and distributed along routes throughout Manhattan to people in need of a warm Thanksgiving meal. This year we are collaborating with Brown Bike Girl and creating a cycling brigade bringing our meals all the way to Harlem and the South Bronx. As volunteers and community members feast together, we shatter the “them vs. us” barrier and enjoy delicious vegan food in solidarity.

‘For people going through tough times,’ organization founder Michelle Carrera says, ‘family-centric holidays like Thanksgiving can be particularly difficult.’ Unlike other food donation drives, the Thanksgiving Community Feast encourages volunteers and event organizers to eat alongside those requesting a free meal. ‘It’s as much for the meal as it is for the human connection,’ Carrera says.
