This weekend we gave out chili samples at the Mission Hill Health Fair in Boston and distributed 70 vegan chili servings and 76 water bottles in NYC. It was a very busy weekend, and our bodies are tired, but our hearts are wired!
Our weekend started driving to Boston for the Mission Hill Health Fair. A big pot of freshly made chili rode shotgun as Ollie slept in his carseat in the back. 5 hours later and we made it to Boston! Ollie rushed to the playground in Mission Hill’s Park close to the table where we set up. Evie the event organizer was kind enough to set us up with a view of the playground, so that the kids could play while we tended to our table.
At the fair, we met with Founding Contributor (and childhood friend) Janette Lawrence and her son Elad. They helped us serve chili samples to those attending the fair. Elad and Ollie spent some time at the table, and most of their time in the playground and the bouncy castle. Thank you so much for helping us out! Your support has always been so important to us! Thank you!
Overall, the fair was a success! We gave out close to 100 vegan chili samples, we gave out flyers from Vegan Outreach and the Vegetarian Guides from Mercy For Animals (a huge thank you to Ellen Botti and James Scotto for providing me with the vegan literature), we connected with the community there, and met some wonderful people from Boston that are also doing amazing things. Thank you Maynard Clark for inviting us! We love Boston! We hope to come back again soon!
The return trip home took us a long time, what seemed like an eternity, really. Ollie slept through most of it. And as we entered New York City, we were greeted with a beautiful sunset. What more can you ask for?!
