Ollie distributed some chili

We did a small impromptu run yesterday in our neighborhood. It was snowing and so cold, and I had supplies for a small batch, so we went ahead and took it out to people.

Starting next week we will distribute every Saturday. Help us warm up the city! We have 7 days left to raise $500. If you have not donated yet, please consider doing so. If you have, please share it with your friends! Here

If you want to volunteer, or if you know of anyone who would want to volunteer, please get in touch with us! We have a lot of different opportunities available. 🙂

Thank you for all your support! Ollie and I want to thank you for all you have done so far to help us in our mission of taking vegan chili to people in need of warm meal. Our hearts are warm, and we want to share that warmth with everyone, especially on days so cold as this one!

I read about Chili on Wheels in the AM paper a few days ago. I have a grass roots community outreach on Staten Island providing groceries to families in need. My greatest challenge is getting donations. We struggle to meet the growing need on the North Shore of Staten Island. We are always in need of more groceries, especially funds to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables. I was wondering how did you go about getting donations?

    Hi Barbara,

It is quite a struggle, isn’t it. When we approached supermarkets we were told that we needed to be a 501(c)3 for them to donate. So then I created a crowdfunding campaign to cover the fees of filing as a 501(c)3 and to cover for food until this certification comes through and we can go back to the supermarkets that pledged to help us once we are tax exempt. Once we are tax exempt we can also apply for other kinds of grants. Could you get in touch with me through my email, [email protected] , there may be ways that we may work together. 🙂
