Overthrow Community Fridge is New York’s first plant-based fridge. The fridge serves the unsheltered community and food insecure families and individuals in the area. It is also a hub where the unsheltered community and anyone in need can stop by for animal free, weather appropriate clothing and personal care items. Literature on veganism and mutual aid is also available at the fridge.
It is accessible 24/7 and provides the community with fresh fruits & vegetables, grains, legumes, plant-based milk and other non-dairy items. The fridge is stocked with cooked food, snacks, and easy to assemble meals specifically for community members who are unsheltered and do not have access to a kitchen.
